UBCO Downtown Kelowna
This project will create a presence for UBC in downtown Kelowna, building on existing activities such as the Southern Medical program campus adjacent to Kelowna General Hospital, the Innovation Library, e@ubc activities in the downtown Innovation Centre, and the partnership with the Rotary Centre for the Arts.
The intent is for community-facing programs and activities to be located in the city center, with proximity to the burgeoning technology, culture, and health precinct, in accordance with the agreement between the City of Kelowna and UBC with respect to the disposition of a portion of the UBCO west campus lands. The project comprises two residential towers, an office tower, and tenant lease space. UBC will occupy a portion of the leasable space in the institutional levels of the project.
Photographic pre-condition survey to assess site conditions as well as a detailed construction layout and shoring layout. As-built documentation of existing structures and monitoring surveys for roads and buildings conducted pre-, during, and post-construction, utilizing fixed monitoring points for ongoing assessment. Data was validated using least squares techniques. Drone utilized for orthophotos and aerial maps for continuous site condition monitoring.

UBCO Downtown will feature spaces accessible to the public, including an open concept atrium, art gallery, and public engagement suite for interdisciplinary programming. As parking is underground, the entire ground floor is dedicated to cafes, retailers, and gathering spaces adding to the dynamic bustling core.
